About Us:
The department was Established in 1993, the department of
history is founding Departments of The RSR,Govt.Degree
College,Barkot(Uttarkashi).The department of history is a
place of learning where students gather to debate and share
their knowledge. History is more than calling moreover;
reasoning and interpretation; in this process we have had a
great tradition. We had a good Scholar like Dr.S.L.Bhatt,
Dr.Asharam Bijalwan,Dr.Sushil Raathi who contributed a lot
in academic arena. Over the years, its alumni have gone to
become good Intellectuals and Social Activist as well. Our
alumni are doing well; couple of students has been appointed
As Assistant Professor in Higher Education recently.
Dr.Subhash Chandra Uniyal got selected In Central University
as Assistant Professor, They are doing well in their
Respective field. Our faculty having been involved in the
nurturing and running research, Teaching and social work.
Our Philosophy:
The Department of history is a place of learning, where
students and social activist, all of different hues, gather
to debate and share their knowledge of history. We teach
students how to reconstruct the history of particular area
through Oral Tradition and how to conduct ethno- historical
field work? We teach students how to parse the detritus of
the past, in archives, people memory (Oral History), art and
architecture and other Archeological resources.
Achievements of the Department:
Dr.Vijay Bahuguna,
Assistant Professor has participated and Presented Couple of
research Paper in Indian History Congress which were held at
Cannur(Kerala) this year.Dr.Vijay Bahuguna also awarded by
Sanskaar Bharti for his outstanding work in archaeology this
year. He also chaired a full session in an international
seminar entitled “Fishing Tradition in Mid Central Himalaya”
and also Presented a paper entitled “Fishing Tradition in
Yamuna Valley”.
What Sets Us Apart: Constantly revising its syllabus
according to SDSUV and HNBGU & Introducing New reading,
themes and courses. The department consistently reinvents
itself, remaining at the forefront of academia. We have been
trying to explore the archaeology, Regional history and oral
tradition of Yamuna valley.
